The Ancient Red Dragon is the apex predator of the chromatic dragon family — a Gargantuan, ego-laden engine of destruction that has spent centuries burning kingdoms to cinders and sleeping atop the rubble. Novaminis have captured that millennia-old menace in extraordinary detail: vast leathery wings spread wide in a territorial display, each membrane mapped with branching veins and ribbed with bone-like struts. The neck and spine bristle with rows of sharp ridges and backward-curving spines, and the haunches carry the dense, coiled muscle of a creature that could shatter stone with a single step.
The head is the centrepiece — a broad, angular skull crowned with sweeping horns, jaws open in a roar that promises either a cone of fire or a declaration of absolute dominance, whichever suits the moment. The forelimbs are braced and taloned, the posture that of a dragon that has just landed and is deciding whether your city is worth torching today. Every scale, wrinkle, and claw tip rewards close painting — dry-brushed ember tones, OSL fire-light effects, or a blackened-soot finish for a dragon that hasn't stopped breathing fire long enough to cool down.
This is a multipart miniature, and it arrives ready for a plain base or no base at all — giving you the freedom to mount it on a custom scenic base as the centrepiece of a dragon lair, a volcanic mountainside, or the hoard room your party has been dreading since session one.
Suits adventurers who:
- Need a campaign-defining BBEG that fills the table and the room
- Want a display piece that anchors a painted dragon collection
- Are running Tyranny of Dragons, Fizban's Treasury, or any homebrew dragon-centric arc
- Prefer sculpts with anatomical weight and presence over stylised cartoonish forms
Encounter Hook: The dragon Gorrathex has not been seen in forty years — long enough for the surrounding settlements to rebuild, reopen the mountain passes, and convince themselves the threat has passed. Your party discovers otherwise when a trade caravan is reduced to ash on the King's Road, and a single claw-mark the size of a wagon wheel is gouged into the cobblestones. Gorrathex has woken. He remembers the insult. And he has had four decades to decide exactly how he wants to be repaid.
