Air mephits are the capricious footnotes of elemental encounters — too weak to be truly threatening alone, too smug about it to be ignored. This sculpt from Epic Miniatures captures that uncomfortable middle ground beautifully: a gaunt, winged figure with a sharp-beaked face, its body trailing in ragged, wind-torn ribbons of flesh and sinew. The pose conveys weightless menace — arms spread wide, the creature seems to hover rather than stand, as though gravity is a suggestion it has chosen to decline.
The detail in the musculature and stretched membrane wings rewards a careful paint job. Glazes of cool grey-blue across the wing surfaces with deeper shadow washes drawn into the sinew trails can give this creature an appropriately insubstantial feel — like something not entirely committed to being solid.
