Tyranny of Dragons - Character Bio : Chard Tyranny of Dragons - Character Bio : Chard

Hello and Welcome!

Chard is one of the Heroes in our Tyranny of Dragons game. Let's learn a little bit about him!

He is a Variant Tiefling from Baldur's Gate and he is a Fighter in the Flaming Fists Order under the guidance of Ulder Ravengard and was stationed at Beregost.

The Flaming Fists were appealing to him given his Devlish lineage. Under the strict training he grew adept at Polearms and starts the Adventure with the Polearm Master Feat. This will come in handy in combat with his trusty Glaive.

Chard has been accustomed to strange looks given his appearance but he found it somewhat enjoyable in a strange sort of way. He likes the thrill of the awkwardness it causes for others

And he uses his innate charm to his advantage whenever he can because while others find him strange, they also find him strangely alluring.

It is a sort of fun game that he likes to play and fits in with his aloof Chaotic Neutral nature. He views life as a sort of game in a way and takes each moment as it comes.

He cannot deny his Demonic nature and he also loves the thrill of war and this is why he has allegiance with Tempus, the God of War. He finds war and battle a sort of similar dichotomy of the nature of mankind - the cruelty of the world juxtaposed with the thrill of victory.

Chard has been recently tormented by regular nightmarish visions every five nights. These reoccurring dreams always are the same - the world destroyed by cold, choking fumes, lightning storms, waves of acid, and horrible fire. The nightmares always end with ten evil eyes glaring from the darkness.

These visions torment Chard as he is not sure of the origin. Are they an aspect of his heritage or do they originate from somewhere else? But with the same duality he sees in most things, he also finds them fascinating to see if this is the fate of the world or is there something that can be done to change the outcome.

Together with these nightmares, he also has a strange compulsion to head towards Greenest to try to learn something about them. So he charmed his way into the next Merchant Caravan and made the trek. When he arrived to see the town under siege the thoughts in the back of his mind tingled with uncertainty that these events must of course be linked. And he could feel a sort of madness beginning to grow with his fear and curiosity - again this mixed duality of intrigue and disgust.

As he reached level 3, he again had the Nightmare. But this time it was different. Instead of waking when he usually does, this time the visions continued beyond the ten eyes and instead he saw a city with twelve walls, fireballs raining from the sky with an intense heat surrounding him. The landscape was a barren wasteland blasted away. And an infernal voice in his head telling him to take these gifts and use them wisely and that Avernus welcomes all. When he woke, he had taken the Eldritch Knight Archetype which imbued him with additional magical powers.

The miniature model is from Mia Kay M3DM and I have to proudly say that this model specifically is a custom commission that she does for her Patrons so this character model is extra special (big thanks for creating him and for bringing my imagination to life!).

We'll see him progress and if he can find out the source of all these Nightmares and see how he deals with the turmoil in his mind!
