Behind the Screen - Thoughts from the DM.

Hi.
We thought it would be fun to interject the campaign updates with some additional perspective. I'm Adam and I'm currently running the Tyranny of Dragons campaign for Pete and myself.
DnD was something I did back in my teens and have only recently rekindled that love for interactive story telling and I have to say how much fun this is. I'm fairly new to DMing having only run the Dragon of Icespire peak for my two daughters and a couple of one shots.
We chose Tyranny of Dragons as it's probably the quintessential DnD campaign for 5e. It takes players from level 1 all the way through to level 15 or higher and has a plethora of different locations and encounters for the characters to face which gives us loads of opportunities to showcase the spectacular range of stuff available on the mitznsimz website.
So what's been the biggest issues running this campaign. Well so far it's just trying to keep the storyline fun and engaging. Being that the party of characters is small (only 3) the main focus has been on which elements of the published adventure to run and which bits can be left out. ToD is tough for low level characters so being that there is only 3 means making adjustments to the published encounters but I think so far so good. The battles have been tough and the party have had to make a few death saves but thus far have pulled through.
Having completed what I think of as the introduction (Chapters 1 to 3). It's time for our heroes to embark on a grand epic adventure which I'm really excited about. Pete has been busy printing a next batch of mini figures from his amazing catalogue which we will hopefully get painted in the coming weeks ready for the next chapter of our adventure.
In the next instalment of behind the screen we will look at some of our house rules and game mechanics to give a background flavour of our game and what it means for the characters involved.
