Even in its juvenile form, the remorhaz is a nightmarish predator — a chitinous, many-legged horror crowned with a bristling fan of jagged spines and a face built entirely around the act of seizing and consuming. This sculpt captures that threat in full: compound eyes wide, chelicerae splayed, and every ridge and spine of its carapace rendered with the kind of tactile detail that rewards careful painting.

The broad, layered dorsal fins sweep back dramatically, giving the miniature a presence that punches well above its scale. Whether you wash the carapace in deep blues and purples to suggest the bioluminescent heat beneath, or go pale and bone-white for a creature perfectly camouflaged against the tundra, the surface detail gives you plenty to work with. The textured scenic base — cracked ice and debris underfoot — grounds the model without demanding elaborate basing of your own.

As a D&D encounter centrepiece, the Young Remorhaz sits in that particular sweet spot of dangerous enough to threaten a mid-tier party without requiring an entire session's worth of preparation. As a display piece, it is the kind of sculpt that draws the eye across a shelf.

Well suited for adventurers who:

Run arctic or frozen wilderness campaigns and want a creature that reads as genuinely hazardous

Enjoy painting chitinous, multi-textured surfaces with washes, drybrushing, and OSL effects

Want a mid-tier monster encounter that brings immediate atmosphere to the table

Collect monstrosities with strong, characterful silhouettes for the display shelf

Encounter Hook

The party is crossing the Frostspine Pass when the lead ranger spots fresh gouges in the ice — each one the width of a shortsword. Before anyone can react, three metres of juvenile remorhaz erupts from a fissure directly beneath the party's pack mule. The creature has been tracking the warmth of the animals for two days. It is hungry, it is young, and — terrifyingly — it is not alone.

Details

Scale: 32mm. Supplied unpainted.
