The serpentine lower body coils onto the base, with wisps of conjured fire curling around the tail — a constant, quiet reminder that this being is never truly at rest. The broad, ridged torso is armoured with overlapping chitinous scales, and the arms end in grasping, flame-fringed claws. In one hand the salamander holds a tall spear crowned with a burning tip, carried with the relaxed ease of something that has never once dropped it in combat. The head is crowned with a cluster of sharp spines, and long facial tendrils hang forward from the jaw — alien, unsettling, and unmistakably purposeful.

As an enemy, a salamander can anchor an Elemental Plane encounter, a fire cult's inner sanctum, or the forge-rooms of a fire giant warlord. As a miniature for display, the interplay of scaled armour, flowing fire details and the dramatic vertical line of the spear make it a compelling centrepiece for any collection focused on elemental or infernal themes.

Adventurers who enjoy this miniature tend to:

Run Elemental Evil or Inner Planes storylines with creatures that carry real presence at the table

Paint fire-adjacent creature ranges — efreet, azer, fire giants — and want a salamander that holds its own beside them

Build display pieces that reward careful OSL (object source lighting) work on the spear tip and tail flames

Seek out monsters with genuine sculptural character rather than generic creature designs

Encounter Hook

The party enters the foundry expecting enslaved workers and finds instead a salamander standing alone among cooling slag — the workers fled three days ago.
