He strides forward in heavy plate armour decorated with skull motifs at the pauldrons and chest, a flowing regal coat billowing behind him. His crowned, skeletal visage is framed by spiked plate, and his weapon — a long-hafted great mace — is slung back in a wide, sweeping grip, poised for a devastating downswing. Every surface of this sculpt communicates authority and wrath in equal measure.

The detail rewards patient painters. The skull-studded armour invites rust-and-bone washes, with the robes offering broad surfaces for blending necrotic greens or ashen greys. The weapon's ridged mace head is a focal point begging for OSL treatment — perhaps the glow of unholy energy crackling along its flanges. Whether you go for a bleached, ancient undead palette or a dark and rotten sovereign aesthetic, this sculpt has the architecture to carry it.

As a gaming piece, the Revenant King fills the role of BBEG anchor or high-tier undead commander with genuine presence. He reads clearly from across the table — wide stance, weapon in motion, crown unmistakable — giving players that immediate "oh, that's the one we need to worry about" moment the moment he hits the board.

Well suited for adventurers who:

Need a commanding undead sovereign as a campaign-defining BBEG

Are running Ravenloft, Shadowfell, or gothic horror arcs

Want a centrepiece figure that earns its place on the display shelf after the campaign ends

Enjoy painting rich, detailed armour with deep recesses and strong silhouettes

Are building out an undead court or warlord retinue for large-scale encounters

Encounter Hook: The party arrives at the ruins of a once-great keep, expecting to find undead foot soldiers. Instead, the throne room holds a figure in full royal regalia — mace raised, hollow crown gleaming — who addresses them by name.
