He stands with arms slightly raised and open, as though mid-performance or mid-negotiation, his expression poised somewhere between showman's confidence and barely-contained scheming. Layered shoulder armour, a bead necklace, crossbody leather straps, a wide buckled belt, and thick wrist cuffs all suggest someone who has put real effort into looking the part — which, for a kobold, is half the battle won.

The pose has an easy theatricality to it: weight distributed, hands ready for a gesture or a cantrip, tail curling behind for balance. He could be introducing the evening's entertainment, demanding tribute on behalf of a dragon lord, or quietly sizing up the room for a con. Kobold bards make for brilliantly nuanced NPCs — useful, untrustworthy, and consistently underestimated — and this sculpt captures that ambiguity with genuine character.

Equally suited to tabletop play and the display shelf, this miniature rewards careful painting. The textured scales provide natural contrast against the smoother leather and cloth, while the top hat is practically begging for a dapper dark colour with a painted silk sheen.

Particularly well suited for adventurers who:

Need a memorable kobold NPC — a schemer, a herald, or a surprisingly eloquent negotiator

Are playing a kobold bard as a player character and want a sculpt with real personality

Want to add some colourful flavour to a kobold warband or lair encounter

Enjoy painting character pieces with contrasting textures — scales, leather, and fabric

Run campaigns where even the small folk have big ambitions

Encounter Hook

The party enters the Tarnished Coin tavern to find the common room spellbound — a kobold in a battered top hat is delivering an impassioned ballad about the heroism of Clan Skrrix, whose warriors, he insists, single-handedly drove a dragon from the Thornwood. Two of those warriors are stood at the bar. They are visibly embarrassed. The bard has not noticed. Or he has, and he doesn't care — because the collection hat is going round and the coppers are flowing.

Details

32mm scale resin miniature.
