dohwar-merchant-by-monster-atlas
Dohwar Merchant by Monster Atlas

Somewhere between the silver threads of the Astral Sea and the bustling bazaars of the planes, a Dohwar merchant extends a clawed hand — not in threat, but in the universal language of commerce.

✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK

✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime

✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs

✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

The Dohwar are one of the more delightful oddities of the Astral Plane — penguin-folk merchants and hagglers who traverse the Silver Void in pursuit of profit, gossip, and a good deal. This sculpt captures that essence brilliantly: a rotund, feathered figure draped in a voluminous hooded cloak fastened at the chest with a gemstone clasp, one clawed hand raised and open as if mid-negotiation or greeting. There is something wonderfully expressive about the pose — the slight forward lean, the beak caught open, the knowing look in those wide eyes. This Dohwar has a deal in mind, and it would really be in your best interest to listen.

The detailing across the cloak is crisp and well-considered — the heavy fabric folds naturally around the creature's barrel-shaped body, while the textured feathering visible on the arms and lower body gives the sculpt a tactile depth that rewards careful brushwork. The clawed feet anchor the figure with a sturdy, waddle-ready stance. Whether painted as a roving Astral trader or repurposed as an eccentric NPC in a coastal or spelljammer campaign, this miniature brings genuine character to any table.

For adventurers who enjoy painting expressive faces and character-rich NPCs, the Dohwar's open beak, wide eyes and personality-forward pose make for a rewarding painting project — particularly when experimenting with beak highlighting, cloak colour choices, and the gemstone clasp as a focal point.

Dungeon Masters running Spelljammer or Astral-themed campaigns looking for a distinctive trader NPC

Painters who enjoy expressive creature faces and richly draped fabric

Collectors of unusual and lore-specific monsters from across the planes

Players who fancy a Dohwar as a quirky, unconventional character option

Encounter Hook: The party's spelljammer is hailed by a small, lone vessel drifting through the Astral Sea. Aboard stands a Dohwar merchant — cloak billowing in the psychic wind, hand raised in greeting — who claims to have information about the githyanki patrol the party narrowly escaped. The price? Something of equal value. He produces a ledger. He has been keeping notes on the party for quite some time.

Details

32mm scale miniature

Supplied unpainted

Available with or without a plain base

Sculpted by Monster Atlas

Sculpted by Monster Atlas — visit their collection to see more of their work across creatures, monsters, and character sculpts.

Pairs well with our monsters collection and planar Elemental Planes encounters — or explore more from Monster Atlas.

The miniatures are made with care.
