He kneels with both arms raised and hands splayed open in supplication, his expression caught somewhere between desperation and wary hope. His coat is stitched together from mismatched panels, laced across the chest with cross-stitch cord, and his wrists are wrapped in ragged bandages. A twisted rope belt cinches what remains of his garments, and his feet are bound in scraps of leather.

The detail visible from every angle is quietly remarkable — the cross-stitching on the back of his coat, the textured matting of his beard and hair, and the layered, almost sculptural quality of the cloth wrappings all reward careful painting. He reads immediately as a character with history: not a simple prop, but someone with a story your players might actually want to discover.

As an NPC, he works in almost any urban or low-fantasy setting. He could be a Zhentarim informant playing a long game, a once-noble fallen from grace, a cursed soul in a Ravenloft back alley, or simply the man who saw exactly what the party got up to last night — and now has information to sell.

A good fit for adventurers who:

Run gritty urban campaigns with detailed street-level NPCs

Want a kneeling, non-combatant figure for city or tavern district scenes

Are building out a Ravenloft or Gothic horror setting with lived-in characters

Enjoy painting character-driven sculpts with strong narrative texture

Are looking for a distinctive NPC to anchor a quest hook or social encounter

Encounter Hook: The party enters the market district of a city where three merchants were robbed in the same week — and finds no witnesses. But kneeling by the fountain is a ragged figure who has been there every day, silent and overlooked. If someone thinks to press a coin into his outstretched hand, he whispers a name: the fence who moves stolen goods out of the lower wards. He asks only that they don't mention where they heard it.

Details

This is variation 01 in the Novaminis beggar range — a kneeling male figure with both arms outstretched in a pleading gesture. Supplied as a single unpainted piece at 32mm scale, with excellent surface detail throughout.
