His long white beard spills down his chest in dense, matted locks, and from his crown sprout vivid green leaf-shoots that look far too alive against his pallid, skull-like face. One hand is raised, open-palmed, in a gesture that could be an offering or a threat — it is very difficult to tell. His sunken eyes and lipless grimace suggest a being that has long since crossed some threshold between the natural world and something altogether more sinister.

This sculpt captures the archetype of a corrupted elder — the druid who stayed too long in the dark groves, the hermit who bargained with the wrong spirits, the nature-touched warlock whose patron grows beneath the earth rather than beyond the stars. He works equally well as a fearsome BBEG pulling strings from a blighted woodland, a strange and unsettling NPC the party stumbles upon in a clearing, or a Druid or Warlock player character with a morally complex relationship with the natural world.

Whether painted with sickly pale skin, leaf-green accents on those crown shoots, and inky robes — or interpreted in your own vision — the Ashenwright rewards careful brushwork and makes a genuine statement on the display shelf.

This miniature suits adventurers who:

Need a corrupted nature figure to anchor a forest or wilderness encounter

Are running a Ravenloft, Shadowfell, or blighted-lands campaign arc

Want a character whose intentions are genuinely, deeply ambiguous

Are painting a druid, warlock or shaman player character with an unsettling edge

Want a display piece that tells a story without a single word of explanation

Encounter Hook

The woodcutters' village has gone quiet. Three days ago, the eldest tree in the common grove split open without wind or lightning — and since then, no bird has sung within a mile of the tree line. When the party finally enters the forest, they find the Ashenwright standing motionless in a shaft of filtered light, one hand raised, head tilted, watching them as though he has been expecting them for considerably longer than they have been travelling.

Details

Single miniature — the Ashenwright.
