The body is lean and muscular beneath overlapping scales, the tail sweeping back for counterbalance as the dragon lunges forward. Ridge spines run from skull to tail tip, and the broad leathery wings are richly detailed with stretched membrane, prominent finger-bones, and jagged trailing spurs. This variant's aggressive, low-slung pose gives it a distinctly predatory energy compared to the more rearing stance of Variant 01 — the dragon is not threatening from a distance; it is already descending.

The level of anatomical detail in this sculpt rewards careful painting. The belly scales shift in size from broad plates at the chest to fine interlocking rows along the flanks and limbs. The face is savage without being cartoonish — deep-set eye sockets, a ridged brow, and serrated teeth line the open maw. Whether you base this in volcanic reds and oranges to match its chromatic lineage, or go for a darker, more weathered palette, the sculpt gives painters plenty of textural surface to work with at every scale of detail.

As a multipart model, the wings and possibly other large elements assemble before painting, giving you the full dramatic silhouette as the centrepiece of a dragon encounter or a prized display piece on the shelf.

Well-suited for adventurers who:

Need a centrepiece boss for a volcanic lair or mountain stronghold encounter

Are building a chromatic dragon collection and want two distinct poses of the same species

Want a display-worthy dragon that will command attention on a hobby shelf

Play campaigns where a named dragon villain recurs across multiple sessions

Encounter Hook: The party has been hired to recover a stolen relic from the slopes of Embervast Peak — but as they approach the summit's collapsed caldera, a vast shadow sweeps over them.
